ALL THAT SLAYS IS NOT GLAM

ALL THAT SLAYS IS NOT GLAM

***Culled from a post I uploaded on my Facebook page*** I took this picture on the 10th of September 2016 at a friend’s wedding reception. It was exactly a month after my younger brother had died. I had psyched myself all through the day before to look cheerful compared to the unkempt self I had been all through the past 31 days. I was excited to meet old friends and I vowed not to mention anything about my brother’s death at the party. I took this selfie and I loved it. I had stretched my hair myself that morning and tried

5 Times English language embarrassed me

I’ve always had the impression that written English is a lot easier than spoken English. For a job interview or any other oral interview, I will prefer to be asked to answer questions by writing them down than being asked to speak. I find comfort and some form of safety in writing than speaking. There have been cases where my spoken English have embarrassed me and I will write about them>>> 1. FILLET – On this particular day, a group of friends and I went to McDonald to grab something to eat. At the driveway making our orders, I asked

My Yankee JJC Experience

***This used to be one of the most read posts on my old blog*** In an earlier post, I talked about how I got rejection mails from different universities and thank God I finally got an admission to the University of South Carolina for a masters in international business program. Permit me to brag a bit, my school has the best international business program in the USA *inserts double winks*. I arrived here on the 7th of January 2015 and I have a lot of JJC experiences I’m going to talk about. Don’t laugh at me too much. 6-7 January

Cheers to 2016

As 2017 begins tomorrow, I am grateful that I have no regrets. I learnt valuable life lessons and did not throw in the towel to all the challenges that overwhelmed me and my family. I had expected so many positive things to happen for me this year. I was so full of life at the beginning of January that I was sure this was going to be AN AMAZING YEAR. As the year went by, it was as though all the odds were stacked to my disfavor. I got this job I walked out on after three weeks because of

2016 Loyalty accessory award

It’s just four days left and 2016 will be over. If I am to recount how the year has been for me, it will seem like I experienced a million years in one. In the midst of the difficult moments, I am grateful for the great support system I had; my family and friends. I want to give a shout out to a few possessions that stayed faithful and loyal through my trying moments. My Samsung S4 phone nearly gave up on me. That phone stayed through for me. I have had to change the battery when it fell into

Celebrating my boo of ten years

I will never forget how I flirted with others going from one le boo to another. I tried almost all the varieties I could ever get but there was something about you that struck me. It’s been 8 years now and we are still together through thick and thin. You get me really mad sometimes. You’ve gotten me so mad that I nearly threw my phone away; other times, I felt like smashing it to the wall. You bug me every day with your different calls and text messages. I still love you though. Through the years, a lot of
